NorrCompetition 2.0.0 Beta for Joomla 4 released
Yes, the wait is over! Probably, it is the longest waited release the community asked for, and we are proud to announce the beta version of NorrCompetition 2.0 which is Joomla 4 ready.
The work we have done was colossal, but now tasks almost finished, and the component is finally adapted to Joomla 4.
Please take into consideration: this is still a beta version for testing purposes, which should not be used on live sites until the stable version is out.
- Late December, 2022 - the scheduled date for NorrCompetition 2.0 Stable version.
There are several things about this release that we want to specially note:
- All themes except the default one has been removed. The default theme will be UIkit based. Joomla 4 comes with excellent tools to override templates and customize layouts by a site integrator, so providing 4 themes to support obsolete frameworks is redundant and no longer actual. Also four themes support is slowing down the development and implementation of the new features.
- NorrCompetition v2 supports only Joomla 4.2 or later. You want be able to use it on prior versions of Joomla.
- Modules and plugins still need to be updated. That's the main focus for us now along with the Stable release of NorrCompetition v2.
We invite all members with active subscription who have been waiting for this version just to download the Beta, install it at your testing environment, play with the component and report back to us your experience if any possible issues will occur during your tests. If you have a NorrCompetition 1.8 installed on your testing environment then you can try to update directly from it as version 2.0 allows to update from 1.8 version.
