I migrated from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4

I purchased and installed the Norr comp component V 2.0

I don't have any of the information from the Joomla 3 site on the Joomla 4.

I do have a fully functioning online version of the previous Joomla 3 site with the older component.

What is the best path to migrate my Joomla 3 component data to Joomla 4, especially the structure and categories, Im not necessarily interested in previous competitions. We run this once a year and so we are about to open a new round and want the same structure, categories, rules etc.

Hi Jamie,

You need to perform an update of NorrCompetition ver.1.8 to the newer version 2.0.

This tutorial should help you:

Migrate NorrCompetition from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4

There is no direct migrator to import/export data.
I see 2 ways:
1. Make copy of your Joomla 3 based site and perform upgrates. Upgrade Joomla 3 to Joomla 4 and NorrCompetition from 1.8 to 2.0. Then remove all existing contests and entried manually.
2. Almost the same as point No.1, but you can export NorrCompetition tables from the database after upgrade and import it to another website with Joomla 4 / NorrCompetition 2.0 clean installation. Using this approach you can keep your site clean, but keep all settings, categories and fields which were exported via tables.

Best regards,
Eugene

Yes, this was in fact the way I went! Only heads up would be to also remember to find the categories created in the core component as well, as these are to be found in the joomla table jos_categories and are not in component tables.
