Good Afternoon

I have just launched a contest and am having problems with a few end users who report that they are unable to vote.  I am reasonably confident that is is not end user problems as someone who had successfully voted was with them at the same time.  I should add that many users have successfully voted.

1  Is there any way that I can review and errors which Norrcompetition may have encountered so as to analyse what is going on.

2  Could it be caused by the security measures to avoid bogus voting,  Currently I have check IP, check fingerprint, check cookie, and tracking data enabled

Would appreciate your help.

Many Thanks

Hi Dave!

  1. It is not an error, so you cannot track it. This message is shown when the component found the match in votes table against that user IP or fingerprint or cookie.
  2. Probably. Sometimes the fingerprint give false positive, so first try to set only IP check or another good option is to use IP+Fingerprint. Thus the component wil first check IP and if it matches then will check fingerprint.

As you have the tracking data enabled you probably will be able to debug this issue (for example the fingerprint is the same for some of voters who are unable to vote matches the previous gathered fingerprint).

Kind regards,

Dmitrijs

Hi Dmitrijs

I disabled the fingerprint option and now they are able to vote, thanks.

You suggest that a good option might be to have IP and fingerprint enabled, but I though that was what I originally had.  Or do you mean having disabled cookie, could you please clarify for me.

Regards

Dave

Hi

Having read through the documentation, I can see that there is a combined fingerprint + IP which I think you were referring to.  All explained thanks

Hi David,

Glad you solved it.

Would be interesting to know, why fingerprint is failing. We know it is not accurate, but any feedback from you will help us to find the solution despite the fact that the fingerprint itsef is a 3rd party solution. If you have any additional info do not hesitate to contact us support@norrnext.com.

Kind regards,

Dmitrijs
