We are introducing a new Unzer Hosted Payment Page plugin for Phoca Cart. The plugin connects your Joomla store with Unzer and allows customers to complete their payment on the Unzer-hosted payment page. After the payment process, the customer is returned to the online store.

The plugin is available in native version for Joomla 6 and is designed for use with Phoca Cart 6.

Unzer Hosted Payment Page (HPP) is a ready-made payment page provided by Unzer. Instead of creating separate payment forms for every payment method, the shop redirects the customer to the Unzer payment page. The available payment methods are configured in the merchant's Unzer account and can include cards, digital wallets, bank payments and other local payment options.

The HPP approach keeps the payment part of the checkout outside the Joomla website. Unzer hosts the payment page and handles the payment interface, while the Phoca Cart plugin connects the order with the Unzer payment process.

Key features of the plugin

  • Native versions for Joomla 5 and Joomla 6.
  • Compatibility with Phoca Cart 6.
  • Unzer Hosted Payment Page integration.
  • Support for the Joomla Update System.
  • Customer return to the Phoca Cart store after payment.

The plugin is intended for Phoca Cart stores that use Unzer as their payment provider and want to use the Hosted Payment Page integration.

How Unzer HPP works

The payment process is handled in a few steps:

  • 1. Customer places an order: The customer selects Unzer as the payment method during the Phoca Cart checkout.
  • 2. Payment page is created: The plugin starts the Unzer payment process for the order.
  • 3. Customer is redirected: The customer leaves the shop and opens the Unzer Hosted Payment Page.
  • 4. Payment is completed: The customer selects one of the payment methods available for the merchant and completes the payment.
  • 5. Customer returns to the shop: After the payment process, the customer is redirected back to the Phoca Cart website.

This is the standard Hosted Payment Page flow described by Unzer. The HPP is hosted by Unzer and provides the payment methods configured for the merchant.

Payment methods

Unzer supports a range of international and local payment methods. Depending on the merchant account and market, these can include credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, bank transfers, SEPA Direct Debit and other payment options. Some payment methods are available only in specific countries.

The exact payment methods shown to customers are therefore determined by the Unzer account configuration and the payment methods available for the relevant market. The Phoca Cart plugin does not create separate integrations for each method; it connects the store with the Unzer Hosted Payment Page.

Hosted payment page for Phoca Cart

One of the main advantages of the HPP integration is that the payment interface is hosted by Unzer. The merchant does not need to build individual payment forms inside Joomla for every supported payment method.

The Unzer Hosted Payment Page can also be customized with merchant information and selected visual settings, including the shop name, logo, colors and other page elements. The page is responsive and is designed to work on desktop and mobile devices.

Joomla 5 and Joomla 6 support

The plugin is provided in native Joomla versions and is compatible with Phoca Cart 6. This makes it suitable for current Joomla-based online stores that want to add Unzer HPP without using the Joomla Backward Compatibility plugin.

Updates can be installed through the Joomla Update System, making it possible to receive future plugin releases directly from the Joomla administrator area.

Unzer and UnzerOne

Unzer has moved its payment services from the older platform to the newer UnzerOne platform. Unzer announced the discontinuation of its old platform in September 2025 and provides migration information for merchants using the legacy system.

Before installing and configuring the plugin, merchants should check their current Unzer account and make sure that the required Hosted Payment Page integration is available for their account and payment setup.
